The Goal:

To reliably melt aluminum with a low running cost, quiet, and smoke-free foundry.

My Solution:

An empty propane canister was filled with Plaster Of Paris, then resistance coils were fastened to the inside of the furnace. In order to maximize heat and minimize melt time, two separate coils were implemented for each respective 120v hot phase of my home electrical system. Through this method, a pseudo-240 volts was achieved through the use of two separate 120v circuits.
